How Long Is The Flight From Houston To Los Angeles

How Long Is A Flight From Houston To Orlando ~ 16hourdesign How Long Is The Flight From Houston To Los Angeles

I recently traveled to Los Angeles from Houston. Since I'd never flown the route before, I was curious to know the answer to the question, 'How long is a flight from Houston to Los Angeles?'

Researching the Route

Before settling on the best airline and flight for my travels, I first needed to find out the answer to my question. So I did what most people would do and researched the route online.

I found out that it could take anywhere from four to five hours for the flight if there were no delays. That was a perfectly reasonable length for a flight across the country and it seemed to me like I'd have plenty of time to get to my destination.

I compared flight times and prices across several different airlines and eventually decided which one was the right fit for me based on my budget and the flight's duration.

Adjusting to the Flight

When I boarded the plane, I was excited to get started on my voyage and eager to experience the flight from Houston to Los Angeles first-hand.

The person sitting next to me was kind and chatted with me throughout the flight—I found out that he was a professional traveling for work and he shared his insights on the business and answered all of my questions about the city.

But before I knew it, the plane was already beginning its descent into Los Angeles. The flight was over before I even had time to get bored as I had initially expected.

Weathering Possible Delays

Since flights come with the ever-present possibility of delays, I had mentally prepared for it. I figured that I should at least be ready in case it happened.

I had opted for the shortest flight time available on my desired airline, just in case I encountered delays along the way. That way, I figured, I wouldn't need to spend too much time in airports if anything happened.

Fortunately, the flight ended up being much smoother than I had anticipated, and I was already planning my return trip before I even left.

Weighing the Pros and Cons

When I eventually got back to Houston, I had taken the time to reflect on the duration of the flight and had come to a few conclusions.

On the one hand, it was logical to assume that the shorter the flight, the less time there is to become bored or uncomfortable. On the other, the longer flights could offer a great opportunity to relax and even get to know the other passengers.

I figured that a flight in the four to five-hour range like the one I had taken from Houston to Los Angeles was the perfect compromise.

The Verdict

In the end, the answer to my initial question — how long is the flight from Houston to Los Angeles? — was overall positive. Even though the majority of the flight was spent in the air, it was still a relatively short trip, so boredom wasn't an issue.

Not to mention, I had a pleasant conversation with my neighbor the entire way, which certainly helped lessen the stress of traveling. I think I'll definitely fly this route again in the future!
